Thousands of people get online every single day and start out on a journey to make money online. The sad part is that more than half of them will fail miserably. I believe that there are two main reasons for this high rate of failure regardless of whether it is  MLM (network marketing), affiliate marketing or marketing one’s own product.

The first reason that people’s efforts to earn money online fail is that they think they can just  jump online, throw a simple website up promoting a product and just watch hundreds of dollars land in their account every day. They fail to realize that making money online is a business and requires real effort to succeed.

To be successful online, you will have to put in some work. That would seem obvious but many people actually do think that earning money online is effortless.  As a successful entrepreneur myself, I can tell you that it takes one’s own efforts to be successful online even it one outsources a lot of the work.  Don’t be drawn in by all of these gurus promising you riches overnight. It doesn’t work that way. You will have to set aside at least an hour a day to do tasks that will help your online business be successful.

Are there people making millions a month online? Absolutely, but they are making that kind of money because they are putting in the time and effort needed to do so.

So when you see a website promising you riches overnight with no real effort on your part, run in the other direction as fast as you can.  The only thing that will happen buying that advice is that you will have made the product owner or affiliate some money while you just threw yours away.

The second reason I believe most people fail is because they don’t invest in the proper training. There is a huge learning curve when it comes to making money online. One of the quickest ways for you to go from zero to money in the bank is by investing in some sort of training or mentor program that will show you exactly what other people are doing to successfully generate money online.  A simple e-book or video is not going to provide you with the information you will require to succeed online.

Once you gain this knowledge, continue to expand upon it.  Then put the knowledge you have gained into your marketing efforts. If you are serious about making money online, I suggest you find a good coaching program and get all the knowledge you can. Once you get that knowledge then implement it and soon you will find that your marketing efforts are putting money into the bank for you. Its not unheard of for people to make $10,000 or more their first month. Will you be one of them?

It amazes me with the year 2010 almost here, that there are still professional business owners who don’t understand the power of the internet, so when I came across an article by a gentleman named Nigel Peck, I couldn’t resist quoting his witty commentary:

“There is a common misconception amongst many people with regards to Web Sites and it is that as soon as you have a Web Site people will start looking at it, and therefore it will attract new business. This is not true.

My answer to this is always the same ‘When you get a telephone does it start ringing?’ I won’t insult you with the answer to that one. A Web Site is like anything else, for people to look at it they’ve got to know it’s there first.”

I read somewhere that even if a business owner truly doesn’t see the need for Internet marketing, just the fact that competitive companies in the same industry do have a web presence, in and of itself, is reason enough to make darn sure you are on the web too.

Seems pretty obvious yet it isn’t so obvious to many people. I have actually personally had a conversation recently with someone who wanted to write and distribute a newsletter. I am a big fan of newsletters, having run a non-profit association for years. It was my number one way of communicating with our membership on a monthly basis. I asked for contributions from members, ran “member of the month” contests and shared industry-relevant information as well as association news. So I definitely agree that newsletters are a great resource. However, this person I was conversing with, when asked how he would distribute his newsletter, responded with “there will be a sign-up form on my website.” Sounds great. Now how are people going to get to the website? He didn’t have an answer to my question. He didn’t understand or agree with the importance of Internet marketing. Good luck to him getting his newsletter out.

Then there are those entrepreneurs who do recognize the importance of Internet marketing but might not have the luxury of time or the resources available. New Horizons 123 was created with this population in mind. Baby steps for small

All the products that you want to sell online are ready.  You have already signed up with the Google Adsense program or with other affiliate marketing programs and you have already prepared the ad you want to post on your affiliate’s site.  Your mind is now set to being the next most successful online businessman.  But is there anything else that you might have forgotten to prepare?  Maybe none.  But how about your landing pages?  Are they all set for your business?

Landing pages are simply web pages where visitors are directed to whenever they click a result in a web search or whenever they click a web ad.  For affiliate marketing, landing pages would refer to the web page where you, as a merchant, would want your potential customer to be directed after clicking your ad on your affiliate’s website.  Landing pages are, at most times, nothing really different from other web pages in a particular website, especially if the said website is an e-commerce site.  Some online businessmen would even use the homepage of their websites as the landing page for their ads.  Are these businessmen making a big mistake?  Or should you follow their method in creating landing pages for their ads?

Well, you can always follow what most online retailers do, directing their potential customers to the homepages of their websites.  But if you want to achieve something more from your online business, and if you want to earn a lot of profits, you better create a special landing page for your web ads.  Why?  Here are a few reasons why you need to use landing pages for your web ads.  And take note, it would do you a lot better if you create a great landing page than a so-so one.

Reason no. 1: It is the only way you earn conversions in an affiliate marketing program.

There are a variety of affiliate marketing programs today, but most of these programs let the merchant pay the affiliate in a pay per click basis.  Basically, all you have to do is sign up with the program and submit your ad.  The program owner would then distribute your ad to various affiliates who would then place your ad on their websites.  Whenever your ad is clicked, a visitor would be directed to your landing page and you would have to pay the affiliate for his service.

As a merchant, you earn in an affiliate program through conversions that is whenever a visitor that is directed to your site actually buys a product on your site.  Without these conversions, you actually earn nothing from the program.  Also, the more visitors that your affiliates have directed to your site, the larger would your expense be.  And the only way that you can recover from these expenses is through conversions.

Some believe that the world is a dull place merely for the reason that they do not find their being appealing enough to make them feel satisfied. Others would even want that they have more than they already acquire. There are also those people who are exhausted of working hard and still end up having nothing.

In affiliate marketing, what is planned to be sold is sold for the reason that the internet is an excellent venue to sell all of the products and services without the need for the businessperson to provide too much time and hard work to sell their wares.

The manner affiliate marketing functions is so easy a person wouldn’t have a hard time thinking how such plan is capable to produce money. In affiliate marketing, a person is initiated to a scheme where an affiliate, the one who holds the site, deals to present and promote other sites that fit in, in sequence to a businessperson.
