If you have something to sell, your first thought is probably….how can I advertise my product. Advertising doesn’t work by itself…..marketing does. There is a big difference in advertising and marketing. For example; you have a product you want to sell. The first thing you do is to take a picture….and list all the features of your product. Makes no difference whether you use the newspaper, magazine or online it is still simply advertising. Most of the time you won’t generate much interest with advertising. To emphasis this point…In a recent survey conducted by the National Association of Realtors revealed that less than 5% of buyers of real estate found ads helpful in selecting a house.

Advertising focuses on a “product or service”, where marketing involves target marketing consumers who are interested in changing their lifestyle and participating in the opportunity provided by what you are offering.

Individuals who are interested how your business opportunity will benefit them directly. People are not interested in all the nuts and bolts of how it works. Results is what counts. Marketing is so much more effective than advertising. However, a combination of the two works extremely well.
