Can I Work at Home Even Without Experience?

I run into this question quite often, and today I would like offer you some recommendations to get started working at home even if you don’t have any work experience.

Think about the experience you do have, whether it is work or life related. Most likely you know how to do something, even when you have not tried it in a job capacity. Try to find jobs that will make use of the knowledge you have, or at least relate to them in in some ways.

Aim for “easier” jobs to begin with, like outbound telemarketing. Most of the ads I see for those jobs don’t require experience and they will teach you everything you need to know. Granted, these are usually commission-based jobs, but sometimes they do offer a small salary too. If anything, you could work this job for a few months to get experience, and then apply for other jobs later.

Start your own business. Many people do remarkable well by finding a home-based business that suits their interests and life experience. Even though you may be tempted to look for a conventional “job”, you should know that that’s not your only alternative! Take your strongest interests and passions in life, into account. Then begin looking for an online business that reflects them. There are virtually hundreds (even thousands) of direct sales companies with great products or services out there. You only have to find the one that suits you.

Educate yourself. Subscribe to some adult education classes to improve your knowledge. Take courses on MS Word, Excel, Access, and MS PowerPoint. Explore on accounting software. Do a search on the internet for “free tutorials” and find out what comes up. You may also include the kind of tutorial in your search, such as “free Paint Shop Pro tutorials”, if you want to learn a particular program. Whatever field you want to be in, look for affordable classes to learn about it. Later, even when you do not have experience, a company might be willing train you because you already possess the basic knowledge required to do the job.

Just never give up, and don’t let your lack of skill discourage you! Everybody needs to start somewhere.
